The Cables

Three cottages = three sets of cables @ 50 mts each.
Cat 6, rodent-proof, underground grade fiber optic cable is being installed.
All metal fittings are stainless steel and up to the highest MOE standards.

"Let's get on with it", Alex said with a smile.

Not one to waste time, Alex was up the ladder with his trusty drill and had the box fitted as he chatted to us through a mouth full of screws! (Not good for lipreading or OSH!)

Finally!

Finally, after a three week delay, the cable men have been able to start their work this morning.

Now ... where are the cable layers?

The end result is exceptionally neat - it's difficult to see where the work has been carried out.

Well done those men!

SOME of the trenching required extensive uplifting of existing flagstones and quite deep hand digging of soil.

The trenching stage

The first step in laying fibre optic cable is careful ground work. Two trench diggers have been busy at the village for the past three days. They were preparing the way for the cable layers to connect the three village buildings to each other and to the main building. Also, at this time, a switch is being configured to ensure isolation of the Videoconferencing traffic from our server.
STAGE TWO. The trenchdiggers have been at KDEC for the past three days preparing the way for the cable layers. This will connect the three village buildings to eachother and to the main cable int KDEC. The switch to separate Videoconferencing traffic from our server is being configured at this time.
